Did the Catholic Church ever apologize for the Inquisition?

A more recent question would be to ask if they apologized for institutionalizing the protection of pedophiles. They produced an extensive report blaming, among other things, the '60s counterculture movement (hippies) for driving priests to bang the kids. Two of the answers here blame Muslims, most blame the state, which seems odd to me, because the Pope got involved in rulers' decisions at times, but the Holocaust proved that murder doesn't rise to the level where there's a Church crisis.

Oh, so to answer your question, at various times in history, various forces including the Spanish Government, Muslims, and '60s hippies have wrecked havoc on a blameless Church.

Actually, the Pope did apologize for any wrongs that were committed. But you have to realize there is the myth of the Inquisition and there is the real Inquisition. You can't apologize for the myth or the false accusations.

A lot of the Inquisition is largely propaganda that was manufactured by certain Protestants in the early Reformation as another means to attack the Catholic Church when the printing press had been invented. The Protestants were losing on the battlefield so they turned to the printing press as another weapon. You can watch this video put on by the BBC that explains it.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
