D-Link DIR-615 for example. Several reviews on some of the lower priced wireless N routers say that if you connect G devices to them as well as N devices, it slows them down to G speeds. I have an N card in my laptop but my mom has a G card so I do not want to upgrade if the speed will stay the same.

No, not all… Not all routers will do that. It depends on the router, though. There are some that will segment the network so that only those wireless stations that are operating at the lower 54Mbps speed will be at that speed while the 300Mbps (802.11n) wireless stations will continue to work at full speed.
Most, however, do not have this functionality. The best way to determine which will is by getting in touch with the various hardware manufacturers and seeing which models they offer for that functionality. Of course, another option that you have is to restrict only Wireless-n-capable stations to using the Wireless-n router and run another router for those machines that are operating at 802.11b or 802.11g.
If you want to do this, the easiest way to accomplish this is by connecting a cable from one of the switched ports on the upstream router (the one that is directly connected to the cable modem/DSL modem) and connecting the other end of the cable to the Internet port on the downstream router. It doesn't matter which router is the upstream and which is the downstream. If you want to operate this way, though, you should have the downstream router operating in Bridge mode and turn off any DHCP functionality in that router.
This will make sure that the firewall is deactivated in that router and that all DHCP address assignments come from the upstream router and, thus, access to all network printers, network shares on the various computers (such as for movies, shared files, etc. ), and other such shared resources are available to all machines. As for what Annlee stated on the discussion board, that is not necessarily true.802.11b, which operates at 11Mbps, and 802.11g, which operates at 54Mbps, are both slower than standard Fast Ethernet, which operates at 100Mbps. However, if one is using 802.11n, which operates at 300Mbps, one will find that it is much faster in a properly configured network than the wired network.
There are some who have already gotten up to Gigabit Ethernet (the third standard in the wired Ethernet family: Ethernet (10Mbps), Fast Ethernet (previously mentioned at 100Mbps, and now Gigabit Ethernet (1000Mbps, aka 1Gbps)). This is not so common, though, as of yet. Yes, most computers nowadays have Gigabit Ethernet-capable ports but most people still are operating at 100Mbps wired speed because the switches and routers that the vast majority have are still designed only up to that standard.
Thus, in today's world, if you are using Wireless-n, chances are that you will have the potential to transfer data faster than anyone using a wired connection in your network. Now what's the next caveat? The bottleneck is your Internet connection.
If you are thinking that the connection you have at home is going to help your Internet speed, think again. Even if you have Gigabit Ethernet at your computer, your Internet connection will be only as fast as the DSL, cable modem, or Community Wireless connection that you have.In other words, if your Internet connection is only up to 7Mbps, then you will still get only up to 7Mbps no matter what you do within the home. If you have questions about your specific configuration, feel free to drop me a line.
I'll be glad to give what help I can. Sources: 22 years of experience as a computer technician and 20 years of experience owning a computer sales and services business .

2 I am not that familiar with all the n variations yet, but in b/g routers/access points, it will slow down to the lowest speed currently associated. It seems that most n's will work the same way. Keep in mind though, you probably have a much slower internet connection to your ISP, so even at be speeds, you are connecting locally faster than the available internet speed.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
