Do cedar filled dog beds make a room smell any better?

I keep a dog bed in my office for my dogs to hang out with me, and I take the cover off and wash it once a week, and my dogs are both really clean, but the office just has a bit of that dog smell ~ even with the door to the outside open. Would a cedar filled dog bed make a difference? Asked by @Goldie_Bah_Humbug 38 months ago Similar questions: cedar filled dog beds make room smell Pets > Dogs.

Yes Oh yes they will make it smell so good. It will feel the whole room. My Husband made a cedar chest when he was in School years ago and it still smells like it was just made.

Personally, I think the cedar would help. I am in some ways an odd one to answer this question as I have almost no sense of smell. However, I have had pets including many hamsters as my daughter grew up and in the case of hamsters, the cedar bedding versus pine bedding made a big difference - even I could tell!

Cedar also repels moths and fleas (and maybe other bugs, I don't know), but repelling fleas is ALWAYS a plus. My heart would almost break when I'd see a little hamster with 4 or 5 fleas on him or her. That's a lot for a little guy.

The cedar bedding took care of the fleas for the hamsters as well (of course, they LIVED in the cage, whereas dogs and cats will be roaming different places). I have heard that some people do not like the smell of cedar. I personally like it (what I can smell of it, anyway).

If you don't mind, or like, the smell of cedar, I'd definitely give it a try. I think you'll find good results. My brother has large dogs and always uses cedar bedding in their beds and swears by it.

S dogs also have ABOMINABLE breath, but we haven't figured out what to do about that yet! LOL Yes, we have tried doggie breath mints but to no avail..... Good luck. I think it's great you can keep your dogs with you in your office like that.

1 It depends upon how smelly your dog is. This user has been banned from Askville.

2 Not very smelly. And it's not unpleasant, just "dog smell" and I'd prefer no smell, or cedar ~ if they work.

3 My dog has allergies so we don't use them. I find them terrible to clean. Goldie, can you wash the entire dog bed?

ZERO odor spray works extrememly well at banishing all odors.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
