Do I have to put accents on capitalized letters?

There are five accent marks used in French -- the accent aigu, the accent grave, the accent circonflexe, the accent tréma, and the cédille. They are only used in some words, but must be used in those words every time they’re written, regardless of whether or not the word is capitalized, italicized, or bolded, etc. Think of the accent mark as another letter. If you left a letter out of a word, the word would be incorrect, and it might even change the meaning of the word; accent marks are the very same.

If you leave the accent off of a word, the word is incorrect. Here’s a great resource that will explain a little more about accent marks and how they’re used -- french.about.com/od/pronunciation/a/acce.... It can be difficult to type in French if you aren’t accustomed to it.
