Do you buy a filter for a 5 gallon tank with tropical fish?

I would think you would buy a filter with any tank larger than 1 gallon because the water does need to be clean.

Although you could do very frequent water changes a filter would be best. I keep a tropical planted aquarium a little over 13 gallons. I found this to be a good hang on back filter(power filter) because you could buy a media bag and fill it with your preferred media.

Even though the smallest model says for up to a 15 gallon tank it is good to use a filter that can handle a tank a bit bigger than the tank you have. It might look a bit big on a % gallon though. http://www.fosterandsmithaquatics.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+3579+16729&pcatid=16729 I replaced it with a Eheim though.

Most power filters that come with and are designed for a 5 gallon tank are pretty poor quality.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
