I love to travel and do so whenever I can. I like to drive, or preferable ride to destinations that are fairly close because getting through an airport is such a hassle anymore but I still like to fly on occasion. I hate traveling by bus except maybe a tour bus that is made for comfort rather than utility.

What I really want to do is take on of those Alaska excursions where you travel by boat and train. I’ve ridden on a few passenger trains but never for a really long trip and I think that sleeping on a train would be neat. All of the above** I like to be a passenger when my hubby drives. He's so safe and reliable and I can look out the window and sketch, or read him a book, or we listen to one on tape. But if it's a far piece, then I'd rather fly.

I've taken the bus many times too, especially overseas. And the train is great, but it doesn't go everywhere I want to. I took it more in England.

I prefer the driver's seat... Frankly, up until a few years ago I would have said a plane hands down. Then I got onto a red eye from L.A. to Pittsburgh and had a horribly turbulent flight in a thunderstorm the whole way. Since then, even small bouts of turbulence leave my palms sweaty and my mind racing.

These days, I avoid plane travel. Also, I really just like driving. I think it's a lot of fun and a great stress-reliever.

Sure, traffic is never calming, but there's nothing better for calming my nerves than driving fast on the highways. I know everyone says it and few really are, but I am a very good driver and not reckless at all - I don't tailgate and I always use a signal. I just enjoy driving fast.

:) Intellectually, I recognize that there's a much higher risk of getting in a car crash than a plane crash...but the primal part of my mind just feels more in control when I'm driving than flying. Trains and buses make me a bit motion-sick. I do love traveling by boat, but that's more for the experience than for actually getting anywhere!

Train for distances under 200 miles. A plane otherwise. In fact, I take a two hour train trip to visit relatives at least twice a month.

I take my laptop or a book for when I'm not watching the scenery, I quite enjoy the journey.

To go to a place like Puerto Rico I would need to take a plane. Any long distance on the continent is best by train because it is faster. Shorter distances, within a selected miles in and around the city, I would go by car.

Comuter lots for buses always seem to be full and with bus stops there is always some walking involed, plus the wait for such a short travel.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
