Do you think American Idol contestant Jessica Langseth should be cut because of her DUI a few years back?

No way. She was stand up and pled guilty to DUI several years ago. She didn't fight it.

And, if American Idol disqualified every DUI or other misdemeanor they would have slim pickings. In my opinion, we should cut her a break. JL served her 2-year probation without any problem (more than you can say for a lot of criminals).

Plus, her 4 days in jail probably allowed her to learn some real kick-a moves in case Simon gets too rough. By the way, we have no idea what the criminal records are of our esteemed judges, now do we?

If there is a clause in the American Idol|Idol contract saying that contestents must have a squeeky clean record, then yes. However, I doubt that this is the case. A lot of folks (especailly creative types) have led interesting lives and often find themselves on the wrong side of the law.

Personally, I could care less about what people with celebrity do with their free time. I sincerely hope that with the private lives of even minior celebrities being exposed, impressionable people (young adults, impressionable middle aged folks, whoever) don't look to celebrities to be their role models.

Nope. You just said that it happened a long time ago. So why would it affect her being a contestant of AI?

She pled guilty and served her time. If anything, this should serve as a lesson to people about giving people second chances.

Absolutely not. She's appearing on a game show, not running for President.

While I am strongly opposed to DUI, no. If you recall, Scott Savol (American Idol 4) had been convicted of two prior misdemeanors, including one for an assault on the mother of his four-year-old son. Because Idol producers had known of the convictions, he was not kicked off the show when it was revealed.

That said, she owned her mistake, she took responsibility and she has not repeated it. That says something about her character.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
