No. George W. Bush will not be impeached.
Such an occurrence is highly unlikely. I would say that it could happen if it were suddenly revealed that Bush had some atrocious secret and illegal policy or program that flagrantly violated U.S. Law or if he or one of his agents had some something extremely scandalous, but that's happened enough times already for me to be able to reasonably predict the outcome of another such event. Nancy Pelosi famously took impeachment off the table immediately after winning control of the house. So far, she's been true to her word and has argued repeatedly in several forums as to why she is not currently planning to impeach Bush.
There are several possible reasons for this decision: It's good politics to leave Bush in. Bush has a 25% approval rating. No President has EVER been as unpopular since approval ratings began. The only President who ever reached a similar approval rating was Nixon the days between Watergate being revealed and him resigning.
There is no better ally for the Democrats to have in the 2008 election than Bush as President. If there is a successful impeachment, the public might consider the problem solved and might be more willing to vote Republican. So far the strategy is working.
The Dems have raised more than $100 million more for the 2008 election cycle than the Republicans have so far, which is highly unusual. The impeachment wouldn't lead to a conviction. When Clinton was impeached, the vote was STRAIGHT down political lines.
Every Republican voted for and every Democrat voted against. Granted, his charges fell far short of the charges Bush would likely be impeached for, but we could expect a largely party-line vote, and it would fall well-short of the 67 votes needed to impeach. It would distract from the agenda.
The House leadership has a rather sweeping agenda it's been trying to pass.It has already passed many bills, but there are many more that it wishes to get some media attention on. If impeachment is introduced, it will be all anybody talks about and all of the other, important work of the Congress will be set aside or slowed down significantly. It'll look like a tit for tat bit of revenge Whether these reasons are sufficient is up for debate, but those are some of the basic arguments the leadership has been giving for why we shouldn't impeach.
Frankly, judging from how much the Democrats shy away from any sort of impeachment talk, I would be very, VERY surprised to see impeachment go forwards. Gonzalez's impeachment is more likely, but even then there is some foot dragging on both sides of the aisle..
Not a chance There's simply not enough political will to impeach him. There's zero chance of conviction, since that takes 60 votes in the Senate and there are 49 Republicans who would all say "no". The Democrats know that they'd look bad for even trying.
Especially the Democratic Presidential candidates. As the campaign starts up in earnest, it's clear that there's an end date to Bush's Presidency. Nobody wants to bother with the symbolic gesture when that takes news cycles away from the candidates.
Besides, it would just put Cheney in charge. There's a faint chance they'd try to impeach him, but again, it won't succeed and will just distract from the campaign.
No, I don't - But that's not to say I wouldn't like to see it happen. I believe that he has committed impeachable offenses - in his use of signing statements, if nothing else. However, I don't think that the political climate is ripe for his impeachment - not the least because Cheney would assume the office and I can't begin to imagine how awful that would be.
Despite the fact that Democrats have a slight majority, I don't think they could muster enough votes to remove bush from office anyway. Better that he leave office in 2009 and spend the rest of life pretending he was a good president. I don't think so. Not that it is such a bad idea. But, it really does take quite a bit of effort, it doesn't always do anything (ask Bill and Monica), and he's almost outta there.
Pat .
No. I think President Bush is in a tough position, he's made a few bad calls. But he's trying to defend America against an enemy a lot of Americans are unwilling to admit exists.
And he's trying to run a country that is split down the middle in its ideology. S approval rating is low because people are generally lemmings who follow the liberal media and believe what they hear instead of seeking the facts for themselves. And that involves listeneing to both the Left and the Right and determining your own opinion..

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
