I would have to agree 100% with your assessment. All those senators did was vote to protect their own *** and keep their hands in the cash pockets of the NRA. When this or worse happens again maybe the senators can say well at least I protected my ***.
You would think, but the no-voting Republicans...AND the handful of no-voting Democrats do have some substantial campaign funds to look forward to that I'm sure they hope will preclude this result. In addition, many of these districts have been obscenely gerrymandered to ensure they include a larger population of unsophisticated, uneducated and easily manipulated voters, so it may be easier for them to justify their no-votes by asserting that the bill had ridiculous ulterior motives, ie; communist/hippie/homosexual takeover, Al-Qeada plot to disarm christians, etc. What you fail to realize is that these politicians are not voted in to make our lives better or safer. It's a contest!
And Republicans win when they win their races and defeat legislation proposed by non-republicans. If the government "worked" then what would be left for Republicans to run on? Try to keep that in mind when your son get's shot in the head by a four year old who's playing with his Dad's gun in the driveway across the street because his Dad is to depressed to stay sober and remember to keep it locked up.
You live in the greatest country on God's green earth!
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
