If success is defined by being a great poet . Sure! Then we all know what comes with greatness. In any day and age, whatever you so desire sincerely, you will go out and get it.
There are a least one of everything you can think about in life. Tons of poets born even this day.Blessings.
Nahh , alot of people do not read poetry . And as a poet , you will never be famous until your dead , and now a days "Everyone " thinks they are a poet , hence the word , " dead poets scociety" lol thats when poets become famous , noone really notices them until then. And , just like the contest they have going , it isnt even "poetically correct" its like they made the rulkes as they went so that article writers could fit in somewhere , and thats why I gave up, no more contest entries for me.
There are AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF PEOPLE THAT WRITE , WHETHER POETRY OF BOOKS, NOVELS AND SUCH ... and in these times all you have to do is pay to be published , it isnt about how good anyone is anymore , but how much money you can sling out to get your next book published , I think im good , so does so and so and so and so , the only differance is , I want to get the book because I earned it not just payed for it , so , i'll probrably never have a book , because I won't pay for one myself . And thats all good.
I very much doubt it. Not too many people read poetry nowadays. We live in the age of text messages.
How many people read a book any more? How many know who Alfred Lord Tennyson is?
I've noticed that, in terms of getting successfully published and read, much hasn't really changed. What has changed is the opportunity for the average person to get their stuff out there. But, so far as becoming a successful poet like, say, Maya Angelou, it takes that something special in a person, a special message.
And it always has.
By successful I mean is it possible to make a career out of it, and it does seem very unlikely which is sad because I think that poetry is beautiful and can take you on a trip and let you explore emotions or relate to anothers emotions. I do feel like I may be the last person in the world who does actually read books and this is also sad. Perhaps a career writing short stories or novels would be more realistic?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
