Do you think there could ever be another civil war in the United States ever again?

And before anyone tells me this question was already asked once, I don't care. Would you just move out of this country and live elsewhere? Asked by Dana_L 47 months ago Similar questions: civil war United States Local > United States.

Nah My main reason for doubting this is that Americans today are far lazier than they were during the civil war. Plus there are a lot of freedoms we as a people have now, with no discrimination based on race or region (note I mean discrimination as far as our freedoms by law, not by others). I think all you'll see are groups of people rallying for their own cause on behalf of something or another.

The only way I could see a civil war is if our current government became an empire (as if a president could ever in fact proclaim him/herself to be emperor or ruler of the US). 1 Yes, definitely. Have you seen the movie The Postman starring Kevin Costner, or read the novel by David Brin? It postulates a second Civil War, the White House being burned to the ground...I would not fight for any state that chose to secede.

I would fight to maintain the union.

2 I doubt there would be another civil war. We've moved on so far from that now and, if it came down to it, there would likely be a ballot to see if the State should secede (like Canada has had with Quebec).

3 Hmmm... I guess what I was getting at was if a ruler err.. I mean president, were to come along and if most of the senate and congress were in line with his way of thinking, and that thinking meant taking away some of the freedoms and choices we have today would that make you think twice about taking up arms. Also, if it came down to where the goverment said that all states should make their own decisions on laws and so forth would you still be where you are today if the state you lived in became repressive? Or maybe it was one of the last states in the U.S.Where everyone had their basic freedoms and big brother wasn't watching you and they didn't want to be part of the goverment anymore.

Would you fight for those rights? .

4 X-Modius, regarding your answer "Nah": I totally agree that we have become complacent. That complacency is what has gotten us into trouble with politics and the rest of the world in general. People have become so lazy they don't even use their brains to think about anything outside their own little worlds anymore.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
