It was a joke. He is a federal employee and can get fired for that. Also they are cutting 200,000 postal jobs, so unless he is a total moron, he is not going to mess around and lose his job over a tip.
When my mail carrier found out I had put in a change of address form and was moving out of my building, he remarked that I had not tipped him in the two years I have lived here. He then said "you know I'm the one that forwards your mail". He was NOT joking and I was very confused, because I have never heard of tipping a mailman for doing his job before.
Now I feel like if I do not tip him before I leave, he may not forward all my mail properly. I mean does everybody expect a tip now for doing their jobs?
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
