Do you wish people Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?

Mostly I wish people a Merry Christmas I typically wish people a Merry Christmas unless I know that they don't celebrate Christmas (i.e. A Jewish teacher I once had) and then I'll wish them Happy Holidays instead.

I smile and say, “MERRY CHRISTMAS! ” If I happen to know the person and know that they are Jewish or Muslim I will wish them a happy Hanukkah or Ramadan but otherwise they are getting a merry Christmas from me. Merry Christmas & Happy New Year, exclusively. I use to think it was Happy Holidays only because people were too lazy to say or write out the whole phrase; until it was explained to me.
