Does Askville have compatibility issues with IE7?

I'm running Win XP HE SP2 on an HP laptop, 2005 vintage. ISP is Earthlink. My anti-virus software is up-to-date. Plenty of available memory and disk space.

I virtually never had IE crash on me before. Now roughly every other day it crashes, always when I'm in Askville. Anyone else experience this?

Any advice? Asked by SharonW 51 months ago Similar questions: Askville compatibility issues IE7 Computers > Internet.

Askville compatibility Ya know, I think Askville has problems, as do other sites, with many of the different browsers to different degrees. I don't think that I've had Askville completely crash on me like you have, and I use IE7, also. But I have heard of others having some problems with Foxfire, and others say that the Opera browser (I think it is!) isn't supported by Askville at all.

They are still in BETA, and it would be go good for you to report your problems with it via the Feedback link at the bottom of the page, probably, so that maybe they can figure out what the problem stems from. When you say crash, is it when you have written an answer and go to submit it, though? If so, make sure that you sign into the site every day before your do anything else here, as they have an auto-logout every 24 hours and that seems to invariably happen when you submit a long, heavily researched answer... But most of all, I would attribute it to Askville being in BETA and they are still working out the kinks in the Ajax and all that other Web 2.0 stuff that they are doing this in.

Hopefully it will all be figured out soon! .

1 TrickorTreatPoppet, regarding your answer "Askville compatibility": I haven't really noticed a pattern of the specific thing I'm doing when it crashes but I'll pay attention to that over the next few days and report it in feedback, as suggested. Thanks for the insights! .

4 Don't know about Earthlink as the guilty party. Aren't they just a passthrough? The error message I get says "Windows has encounterd an error and must shut down," so I'm assuming it's in Windows.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
