No, Mitt's ego is too high. Ryan will become Biden, before he becomes Cheney. VP's usually settle into the background once the initial election is over.

Cheney didn't because the party knew he was too aggressive to. And, they were ok with that, since Bush 43 was quite passive. Having said that, I think Ryan is more respected than Romney, and yes I think he will help Romney in this election.
