YES! And I hate it when people don't know the difference between "its" and "it's", and "their", "they're" and "there". It really comes down to people being too lazy to pay attention to proper grammar and spelling techniques.
Unfortunately, nowadays, ppl R talkN liek this oinline, lol! So it's hard for those of us who DO know proper English to even realise what those idiots are saying. (I've encountered some here on Askville and just ignore their questions-- if you can't speak some semblance of English, you don't deserve to have your question answered.) Of course, I *am* aware that it's traditional to spell "realize" with a z here, but I grew up reading a lot of British literature, so if I wanna put an extra "u" in something, or replace a "z" with an "s" then I'll be snobby enough to do just that.
That reminds me, "to" and "too" are two different words! The ONLY people I give slack to are those people who are not native English speakers-- as I'm sure my French isn't NEAR as proper as it should be. Not me personally really but... I have a really funny story about that. I was at a restaurant with my friend and her mom, whom I have known since I was a little kid. Anyway, a guy walks in with a shirt that says "smile if your horny" and she says, "I can't believe that" and I thinking she is offended by the shirt in general when she says, "People should learn grammar, that's the wrong your.It should be y-o-u-'-r-e.
" She is someone who gets really bothered. She laughed at us thinking the shirt was offensive, but bad grammar, well.... shaelyn's Recommendations Eats, Shoots & Leaves: The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation Amazon List Price: $11.00 Used from: $2.92 Average Customer Rating: 4.0 out of 5 (based on 520 reviews) .
Oh heck yeah! My sister is an English major and therefore everyone in the household is under the strict guidance of her perfect understanding and knowledge of English grammar. Unfortunately her desire to have all grammar be correct has somewhat been rubbed off and is duly noted as an annoyance..
It drives me absolutely insane! Also, I hate when people use the wrong version of "there" or "their"... these mistakes happen often in text messages and emails.
Not really I make spelling and grammar mistakes all the time, so I let it doesn't bother me. I think there are a lot of other things more Worthy of my frustrations.
