It really depends on the question. As you mentioned, I put most of my tips back in to Mahalo, so I don't really care about the money. If the question is interesting to me, like mahalo.com/answers/modern-japan/what-can... buddawiggi's Yakuza question (I liked your answer better by the way), I will answer no matter what the tip.
But if the question is obviously business related, then I feel like the tip should match the effort. I don't want to do work for pennies that people should be getting paid good money for.
For me it doesn't matter. If the tip value is $.05 or $100 dollars. I will answer to the best of my knowledge/capability and be helpful, when help is needed.
A tip sure does help, but it isn't what's important, not in my mind. Answering the question is what's important! Good question!
@tealmyster.
Yes, I answered lots of .25 questions including from anonymous. But I don't answer for less than .25 It doesn't make sense to tip less than Mahalo offers for free Do you get annoyed when people unleash torrents of questions that require a good deal of time to answer but don't pay more than the minimum tip? No, first nobody forces you to answer.
You can skip them. Besides, they may look hard for you but somebody expert in that subject may answer them easily. Though it's better if people tip more, what can we do?.
I answer rarely looking at the tips...ok I might glance sometimes. I answer questions when I think I might be helpful, really know the subject matter or if its a fun question to answer. I am only starting out, so I use the questions and answers forum for getting my feet wet and also to learn what people are really interested in.
For me it's more important that I can answer the question effectively and contribute to making the net a better place. I'm probably a bit naive but I do believe that quality will be its own reward. I am part of Mahalo now, I'd like it to be the best possible place.
If that happens money will take care of itself. Yes I do answer questions with a minimum value. I probably haven't been here long enough to get annoyed with anything yet.
I always try to offer a well-written and whenever possible well-sourced answer to ANY question. The only difference in my answers is really based on the nature of the question more than the tip except for cases where at least one seems extremely disproportionate to the other, in which case while I will strive to answer the question clearly and thoroughly I may expect them to be willing to work with me and check the links I provide them. Especially if I specifically mention the source is also for further reading or something I can't reproduce on Mahalo such as an interactive item.
Honestly whether someone is offering 25 cents or 25 dollars I expect an asker to be willing work with me a bit to help me provide them with the best answer possible. So unless someone's intentionally making it harder (or impossible) to answer the question, or setting off my "Homework" alarm and refusing any answer that can't be directly copy/pasted into an essay, I try not to get annoyed because nobody is forcing me to answer the question. Of course I do have one exception to all of this: I don't do spiders, so just don't ask me about them.
Especially if you want pictures, in which case I doubt you can pay me enough to make me want to look at those freakish little skittering fiends.
Tip doesn't really matter to me. I don't give less answer just because there's less tip - though it's a bit daunting to see $10 questions, and that $100 question awhile back really caught my eye (unfortunately I didn't know enough about the topic). I generally just answer as best I can, with pictures and sources when needed, and if I really know the topic of the question I start getting into the nitty-gritty details, even if it's a 25¢ anonymous question.
But then again, it's the actual answering that I enjoy, and I'd do it if Mahalo paid me or not (though I enjoy immensely that they do! ). I've always been a bit of a "long answerer," particularly on subjects I know best.
I've run into a lot of competition here on Mahalo, but on Yahoo! Answers (where people think a good answer is "yes it does") it was always frustrating to be surrounded by people who didn't bother to explain things. I've learned to source answers here, I think that was really all my answers were lacking, but in general - unless there's a thread where it's clear only an opinion or funny answer is required - I explain as well as I can.As for "unleashing torrents of questions at minimum tip," I believe @davepamn is an excellent example to mention here.
He asks so many questions, it's difficult to see where he gets ideas for all of them! But if he asks "torrents of questions" about a category I find interesting, I open them all up in tabs and go for it. Mahalo is my hobby, and I would happily wile away the day answering questions that interest me.
:).
Interviewers want you to answer interview questions about what success means to you in a job. This helps them to assess what you work towards and what motivates you. They can determine if your idea of success fits with what the company considers as success.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
