Doesn't conservative wisdom dictate the 1 in 8 on food stamps are lazy and worthless?

I don't think a large majority of food stamp recipients are that content.. I had to apply and accept food stamps at one time during a bad lay-off when our steel mill was shut down for a year for major modifications, we cut out all extra spending including cable tv, cell phones ect and my unemployment paid the general bills but it wasnt enough for a family of 4. Because of my unemployment benefits we recieved a whopping $237.00 in food stamps (EBT card) and For 2 adults and 2 young teenagers that lasts about 2 weeks. We had no problem using the EBT card and didn't care who knew about it or what they thought about it, I had worked every single year and paid in my fair share of taxes that went to help families in need.

The Food stamps were very helpful and we made things stretch really far but it just was not enough for everyone to be content with, so after only 4 months on food stamps and unemployment I took a welding job at a shipyard down at the gulf (90 miles away) stayed in cheap motel and came home every other weekend until returning to the steel mill.. So it wasnt the stigma of food stamps that motivated me it was the fact of not being content with the situation.. Perhaps some of those who are getting $400 in food stamps and $200 in cash assitance, paying $24 a month rent in section 8 housing, geting their electric/fuel bills partial paid by utility assistance and getting medical care are content with their situation and are just lazy and are not motivated to do anything else but not me..

I don't think half the people on food stamps are lazy. Some work full time and still don't get paid over poverty line. There are people abusing the system but I don't believe most people would choose to be on food stamps.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
