Either my mom's lying, or my teacher is just over exaggerating?

Tell your mom about what happened and go to the head teacher. Don't let this go because what your teacher is doing is wrong. Make sure you explain that your essay wasn't actually due till Monday and that you're basically getting into trouble for nothing.

If your mom doesn't agree to see the head teacher with you, then go by yourself. Just do whatever it takes to sort this out and don't be scared.

There is this one teacher who is going to make your school life hard. Teachers mostly hate being proven wrong. Talk to your mom when her mood has lightened and tell her everything.

You can make complaints about the teacher to your counselor or anyone who can take action and be on your side. Just don't mind the teacher and let him/her do their thing. The good thing is the teacher is well aware of what s/he just did and that you hopefully did not lie.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
