Expired Canadian Permanent Resident Card and travelling?

Expired Canadian Permanent Resident Card and travelling. I am a US citizen living in Canada with a Canadian Permanent Resident card. It just expired, but we have been invited to travel to the states in May.It was last minute so we didn't really have alot of time.

My PR card hasn't been renewed yet and I know it takes a pretty long time for the renewal to be processed. So I am wondering if there is a document that I can get in time for the trip that will allow me to return to Canada after the trip is over. Please let me know!

This is very important! I want to call someone tomorrow to investigate further, but it is too late in the evening now and they keep you on hold FOREVER and then tell you to call back! *sigh* Government... :) Asked by Anonymous 32 months ago Similar questions: Expired Canadian Permanent Resident Card travelling Politics & Law > Law.

Technically you are supposed to apply for a PR travel document, Technically you are supposed to apply for a PR travel document, see cic.gc.ca/english/information/faq/pr-car... You can also try to enter with your expired card, you will probably get pulled aside and have to answer some questions but apparently it's common now that the first PR cards are starting to expire that people don't realize they have expired. Once in Canada, you can apply for a PR card but the problem is, it takes almost 2 months and you have to pick it up in person which means you'd have to go back to Canada in 2 months when they send you a letter to come pick it up. Which means you need another travel document or whatever.

Lets say the system is just not very user friendly for PR's who don't live in Canada. Sources: canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discus... .

Permanent Resident Cards are important because they are travel documents There are some exceptions to the 2 years in 5 rule. If a permanent resident is outside Canada accompanying a Canadian citizen who is their spouse, common-law partner, or parent, then this time counts as being resident in Canada. Also, if a permanent resident is employed outside Canada by a Canadian business or the Canadian federal or a provincial government, then this time counts as though they were resident in Canada. In the instance of permanent residents employed outside Canada, their accompanying spouses and children will also have the time counted as though they were resident in Canada.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
