For a top loading washer which is better belt driven or direct drive? Which washer for efficiency & ability to clean?

I would like something that is energy efficient, reputable with good reviews. Needs to be able to hold large loads of clothes and clean them well without damaging clothes. I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
