Garret a Morgan?

Your going down a street and you get to an intersection and traffic is buzzing and people are trying to cross the street! There's no control! Thankfully we had Garrett Augustus Morgan a person who started with poverty but ends up inventing some of the most useful things such as the Traffic Light and the Gas Mask.

He also created things in every field from hair care to safety He was born on March 4, 1877 in Paris, Kentucky. S education ended after fifth grade and then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio looking for work and worked several years as a handy man and he loved working on things like that. He was gifted from the start and once he was done with work for the day he hired a tutor so he could continue to read and write.

He was also ended up working at a clothing store and saw that the belts that helped run the machine snapped all the time. He had an idea to make them more efficient he made a model they bought it from him for $150.00. Then he even got a job fixing sewing machines He later married Madge Nelson but got divorced 2 years later.

After the divorce he go married to Mary Anne Hasek. They had 3 kids John Pierpoint, Garrett Jr., and Cosmos Henry. Garrett also fought for even rights.

He gave alot of his money to help the N.A.A.C. P National Association for the Advancement of Colored People an organization working for equal rights. He also ran for the city council he had hoped that his speech would help fro equal rights. But he did not win, his speech's were heard though he also began publishing the Cleveland call it was one of the first newspapers for African Americans He had many accomplishments such as inventing hair products and even selling them for money.

He also liked tinkering and mixing different materials once he tried on of his creams on his friends dog and on himself. The hair on both of them became strait! He had just invented Morgan Hair Refining Cream.

S business was a total success The gas mask which saved many people from a gas leakage. He connected a tube that led to the ground because the air closer to the ground was cleaner then the air closer to the top is where all the gas was at. He had gotten the idea from the circus' elephant because of the tube The traffic light was patented on November 20, 1923 and even though many other people tried to create the traffic light but he was the first to patent it but later on he sold the patent to the General Electric Company for $40,000 He also in his later years lost 90% of his vision so he could barely see.

That's when he chose to stop coming up with inventions. So the next time you go down a street and you get to an intersection and a traffic light is keeping everyone safe. Think of Garrett A.

Morgan and all the incredible things he did.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
