Getting credit report from Equifax or transunion?

Getting credit report from Equifax or transunion. I've heard I can get free credit report once a yr from the agencies. I don't mind paying for it but the problem is they always require a credit card no.Info to be able to process my report when doing it online as well as when sending a "request credit history report form" to the agency.

Is providing credit card no. Info necessary to get my report cause I don't have a card. I requested my report by mail and didn't get any response at all probably because I left the credit card no info space blank.

I personally have done it, and have gotten a copy of my free credit report. 1 You can get a free credit report once a year from all three Credit Reporting Agencies (Equifax, Experion, and TransUnion) at the following website: https://annualcreditreport.com/cra/index.jsp Getting just one of them (one from each agency) every four months is the best way to do so; that way you keep yourself updated more frequently. I don't remember what therequirements are to get the reports, just that it says that you have to "prove your identity. " Of course, most people with a reportable credit history have credit cards, but there may be other ways of proving your identity as well.

You'll find out when you go to the site. Good luck! This user has been banned from Askville.

2 MarshallO is right. Use the link in his comment, fill out the form and you'll have your credit report in minutes. You don't need a credit card to prove your identity; they'll ask you some questions that only you would be likely to be able to answer.

The reason you've been asked for credit card info at other sites is so they can charge you monthly after the free trial is over if you don't cancel. Ignore the commercials with the scruffy guy singing about the similarly named site that really isn't free and go to MarshallO's link.
