Guinea Pigs don't have alot of mobility in ways, does a female get messy while in heat since she can't clean herself?

I only have a male now, but am considering getting a female when he passes on. Our female hamster never got messy, but she sure smelled awful.Do female guinea pigs smell bad during that time also?
