Have Republicans made a historical mistake by not casting at least one vote for the Health Care bill?

NO! That is an interesting question, but I do not think that Republicans made an historical mistake by not casting at least one vote for H.R. 4872. The bill’s text plus other details are at thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d111:h.... Republican members of Congress (MCs) did not make a mistake because: 1.

The health care reform bill was bad, potentially disastrous, for most Americans, US businesses, & the US economy. 79% of Americans believe that the country is on the verge of financial collapse and even depression.2. 69% (or more) of Americans oppose ObamaCare, a clear majority.(CBS Poll, 3/23/10) 3.

Nearly all Republicans oppose ObamaCare. 4. The GOP will win more House & Senate seats in November because the MCs were unified in voting NO.

All GOP candidates at every level can campaign proudly that their party did everything possible to defeat H.R. 4872, which has everything that GOP voters oppose: massive tax increases for businesses & individuals; more power to & expansion of federal government; tremendous spending increases that will increase the deficit, decrease competitiveness, & could collapse the economy; oversight authority given to the IRS (!), necessitating 17,000 new IRS employees; government making medical decisions for people instead of patient & doctor; Medicare cuts; abortion funding; & much more. 5. The process of creating & passing H.R. 4872, led by Democrats Obama/Pelosi/Reid, was the most closed, partisan, exclusive, corrupt, & unconstitutional process used in history.

The GOP’s alternative bills & amendments were not considered or voted upon fairly. GOP MCs were not even allowed to participate in meetings & negotiations!6. As ObamaCare is implemented, there will be confusion, errors, systemic failures, funding cuts for some people, etc. The GOP cannot be blamed when all goes awry, which might even help the GOP win majorities in the House and Senate.7.

Obamacare’s flaws & failures will worsen as the 2012 presidential election nears. The GOP might be better able to defeat Obama because they opposed his health care bill unanimously.8. Republicans & conservatives can begin immediately to REPEAL, REPLACE, & REFORM the new law, from a foundation of strength & unity.

They could not begin or succeed if divided & fighting internally.9. The USA was founded & thrived on principles of limited government, individual liberties, decentralized government, free market economics, government & legal systems based on narrow interpretation of the Constitution, etc. ObamaCare violates every one of those tenets.By giving government control over 20% of the US economy, the superliberal, Democrat majority has brought socialism to our country. The GOP & a majority of Americans oppose socialism, & believe in the ooposite, founding principles above.

The GOP will win by standing for those ideals in a unified way. For further policy & political information re ObamaCare, GOP role, etc. : 1. http://online.wsj.com/public/page/health-care-overhaul.html?mod=quicklinks_healthcare 2.

Yes, because it points up to the fact that they all agreed to vote it down and are in collusion against anything Obama tries to do. Now, they are talking about trying to repeal it. That’s so much smoke; they can’t because they don’t have the votes and it’s the law now that the president has signed it.

All of this vitriolic dialogue makes them look bad; it seems they are putting politics before the business of the people of the United States. They have let the right-wingers take over the party and allowing the Tea Partiers to get violent without speaking out is a big mistake, although they have been enjoying it up to now. But, even they have recognized that the events of the past week are getting out of hand.

The moderate Republicans have been silent for too many months; now is the time to tell these radicals to "cool" it before they kill someone which will be a national tragedy.

I don't think refusing to vote for what we've not money to pay for is a mistake. It's usually called "responsible. " .

1 It shows that they are organized and have solidarity with one another. Usually there is one "lone gunman" who will break away from the fold but we haven't seen him yet.

I guess we shall see during the next election cycle.

With all of the "buying" of votes on the health care bill...

Dennis Kucinich of all people has decided to vote yes on Health Care Bill. What happened on Air Force one yesterday?

Does anybody in politics really care about health care or are people who die or suffer.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
