Have you read that carnivores won't eat the dead bodies of meth users? We call them "dumb animals"! Who's stupid here?

We call them "dumb animals"! Who's stupid here? nih.gov/news/health/may2009/nida-15a.htm... place in the Intel science was Daniel Jeffrey Martin, a 17-year-old junior from Desert Vista for his project, "The Effect of Human Methamphetamine Usage on Carnivore Scavenging.

" Martin made a retrospective analysis of data from a local medical examiner’s office to demonstrate that carnivorous animals do not like to scavenge the remains of humans known to have abused methamphetamine. He came up with the idea after his mother, a forensic scientist, told him there was anecdotal evidence that carnivores stayed away from bodies of people whose autopsy revealed the presence of methamphetamine."Daniel Martin took something that had been forensic lore, and turned it into a very interesting project that could have implications for forensic science," said Dr. Cindy Miner, deputy director of the NIDA Office of Science Policy and Communications, who contributed to the scientific evaluations of the projects. 2 Nope. It was a science fair project. There was an award from NIH, and they probably funded some scientists to visit the science fair, but the fair itself was funded by Intel.

The great thing is that the data was cheap to get, since the kid just used data from the local medical examiner's office. You'd have to replicate the experiment at other times and places to be sure of the general utility of it, but it's a great way of gathering a bit of extra knowledge from existing data. Not exactly sure what you'll do with it.It's indicative that the changes in the body from meth use are substantial.

Mostly it goes into the general scientific pot and waits to see if somebody finds a use. The real key is that some young scientist thought of it, and did the work.

3 Oh, never mind. I see it is a high school science fair project. Animals are dumb, though. At the vet emergency hospital here, they had a frantic farmer bring in his unresponsive dog.

Long story short, the farmer had put a horse down. Illegally, he buried the horse on his property. The dog immediately dug it up and ate some of the isoflurane soaked flesh, and effectively knocked himself out.

The bill from being on a vent for three days was over $10,000. Not too smart, in my opinion!

Sounds like he paid for his own mistake in not digging the buial site deep enough.

TurboB replied to post #4: 5 Not deep enough, it would seem! It is against the law to bury an animal on your personal property to begin with.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
