No, it's not too young. But NEVER, EVER pierce yourself with a sewing needle. You're setting yourself up for infection, a lot of pain, scar tissue, a crooked piercing, and more.

ONLY get pierced by a professional in a piercing parlour. You're really stupid if you pierce yourself.

I think 12 is really young.... 16 is a more appropriate age for a nose ring tho.
