Home theatre set up help! I have a vizio tv, blue ray player, direct tv dvr and a bose home theatre system?

Home theatre set up help! I have a vizio tv, blue ray player, direct tv dvr and a bose home theatre system Direct TV and Blue ray are hooked up to tv via HDMI cables. I've tried the traditional setup from the tv to the bose (red white and yellow hookups) but I'm not getting any sound through the bose.

Your TV should only have a red and a white audio output for audio. There's no yellow out. You may be trying to use the wrong connections.

If you have the Bose system where you plug everything into the Bose and not your TV, then that's the problem. Plug everything into the Bose, then you would have a single HDMI cable to the TV while your sound will come out through the Bose. If you respond with the exact model number, I can explain it more clearly or show you a diagram.

But you probably have a diagram that came with the Bose.

The yellow is the video out/in that the setup came with. It's the Bose AV18 lifestyle dvd. Thanks for the help!

OK. You connect the red and the white audio out plugs from the TV to the red and white auxiliary in plugs in the Bose. You then need to select the AUX setting on your remote control to hear the sound.

When you want to use the DVD in the Bose, then you switch to that. What model TV do you have? Some TVs don't have audio outs, and that could be your problem too.
