How annoying is it when people do not RSVP an invitation promptly?

Planning a surprise baby shower for my daughter end of October. RSVP deadline October 10th. I know a bunch of people are planning to come and still did not respond.

I'm already stressing that comes October 11th I will have to be on the phone, email and Facebook trying to find out the ones that really will not make it. Going to eat a kitkat to calm down. I guess it's pretty annoying for you! Did you give a deadline for when to RSVP by in your invitation? Maybe that might help alleviate this problem next time if you didn't.

Oops. Sorry. I didn't see the whole question or the category. In this case, I agree this is very annoying!

.

I completely sympathize with you. I've done two big events in the past couple years (a bat mitzvah for my daughter and a b'nai mitzvah for my twin boys). It's kind of like running a wedding. In both cases there were a number of people who didn't rsvp on time.

In some cases it was kids' parents who 'thought they'd rsvp'd already' and in other cases it was family who just didn't know yet whether they could make it for one reason or another. Some just put the little rsvp card and envelope aside and it got 'lost in the pile' in the kitchen. Either way, try to accept the fact that you will have to call some people and then you won't have to stress quite as much.

There will also be some last minute cancellations and possibly a couple 'no-shows', though that may not apply for your type of party. My personal preference for extreme stress is M&Ms, but I always regret it later! I'm sure it will be a great shower.

I'll just hit my kitkat bag. Thank you for your comments. Violet1 15 months ago .

Violet, it is extremely annoying and rude! That's the whole purpose of an RSVP. You can either try and get in touch with the people you know are coming but haven't responded and tell them that you need to know so that you can be sure to have enough snacks/beverages, seating, etc for everyone or don't call them at all and make arrangements/snacks for the ones who do respond.

If people complain about food or seating arrangements then they have only themselves to blame for not responding. Good luck, Violet! .

Funny that some peope called today because it is the day to pay their bills and they saw the invitation. I need to tell the place where we are having the luncheon how many will attend. I can see myself having to call some of them.

Keep in mind that *your* sense of urgency does not apply to everyone else in the world. Some people are disorganized and forgetful, and some are plain rude. You can only control your own actions, and then make plans based upon the best information you have available when you have to make decisions.

If you reward these people by doing their jobs and yours too, they will never change.

We hit a snag.... the person that took the job of doing the invitations and mailing them out used the clear labels and some of the invitations returned. It seems that moisture (rain? ) had made the addresses too hard to read.So I had to make new labels and resend them.

Now I wonder...did everyone get their invitations? I have to wait until October 11th and start calling. Violet1 15 months ago .

I know exactly what you mean. Some people can be so rude. I remember when I was planning my daughter's wedding I had quite a few deadbeats that had not responded.

Most were close relatives. I ended up having to call them to ask and all of them said the same thing. OH, I thought you would know that we were comming.

Did we really need to RSVP? Good luck with the baby shower.

Family is in another Country so they are not coming. I have to wait another week.Thanks. Violet1 15 months ago .

It is so annoying but it can be easy to forget too.

How do you stop annoying people (ie at work or someone you just met).

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
