How can I convince my dad to let me get a pet rat?!?

1. They aren't dirty. They actually clean themselves ALL the time, and if he asks a Petco/Petsmart worker they'll say the same thing.

2. The didn't cause the Plague. In fact, the rats were victims of the plague, too, it was the fleas on them that caused they plague.

After rats began to die they jumped on dogs, cats, and humans. You can look up, "The Plague and rat fleas" to check it out. Plus, domesticated rats are just that.

THey are specially bred to be healthy and the plague will definitely not be in them. 3. They're very cute and fuzzy, but most people dislike the tail.

I don't why, I've liked the tails, they look neat. You can look up "pet rats" on Google pictures to see tons of happy rats and owners. 4.

They smell only after a week or 2 of being in dirty shavings, but then so do other rodents like hamsters and ferrets, and Guinea pigs are worse. Rats tend to leave their mess in a different spot than where they sleep and eat, because they all around clean thinking, and are not stinky at all when you pick them up (due to their own constant cleaning--I'm not kidding, they clean more than hypochondriac.) 5. They do breed fast, completely true, that's why when you get rats you get either all female or all male.

Wild rats get into your walls, I don't have any idea why a well-fed, and loved pet rat would, but wild rats leave when they get their fill. Their like nomads, wild rats scavenge, grab, and leave. Mice are the ones who act like squatters.

Even if you were to end up getting a pregnant rat, it wouldn't be hard to get rid of the babies, give to a pet store, friends (if you talk them into it), or a swamp--but did it quick baby rats are extremely magnetic and adorable. Rats are very clean, and therefore don't stink unless you don't clean their cage (think, what would happen if your toilet stopped working?), DID NOT cause the Plague, and are adorable critters. Cuteness can be backed by Google pictures, cleanliness and true culprits of the plague by research.

Perhaps after you show this research it will help some, maybe if you get them, your dad might even grow to like them. Hope all helps :).

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
