We found that UPS is much better than the postal service/post office UPS has always been cheaper for us to send something (compared to what the post office would charge) and it is almost always faster. Plus you get a tracking number so you can follow the progress of the package. Which can be a envelope, "package" does not mean it has to be a box or such.

We send all Christmas gifts with UPS and just a couple weeks ago, we had to ship a saddle. It weighed 38-40 pounds. We checked with UPS (before sending it) and they entered the most expensive zone that it could have been sent to, and for a package up to 50 pounds in weight, the most it would have cost to send, was $50.As it was, it did not need to go to the most expensive zone (90210, no, I am not joking, that is real).

The shipping on it turned out to be only $32.45. We sent it on a Monday and it arrived at the state (three states away from us) on Wednesday. We had also checked at the post office for price.

It would have cost about $75 (to the exact same place we sent it to via UPS) and it would have taken about two weeks to get there. Oh, and besides the fee of the $75 dollars at post office, that was just the amount to mail it on what it weighed, but because of it's size, they said we would have had to pay extra for an "over size" package. A lot extra!

UPS was extremely cheaper and faster.

Greyhound bus.... If you take the package to the nearest Greyhound bus station, they will ship it to the station nearest your destination. It is not expensive and is pretty fast as the buses run the routes regularly...two weeks is more than enough time. I moved from Washington to California and shipped most of the heavy stuff this way.

It used to be, and I think it still is: the cheapest way from point A to point B is either by Greyhound bus (the package leaves the nearest bus station to you and arrives at the nearest one to the addresee. They have to pick it up tho. The 2nd way is by rail.

I do believe that Amtrack is still accepting parcels, and will likewise drop off closest to your addressee. Of course, there's air, but that's out of sight..

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
