How can I remove all sql server files from my computer so that I can install a new version on xp pro incl reg files?

How can I remove all sql server files from my computer so that I can install a new version on xp pro incl reg files. I need to use sw that relies on sql server. I have been told to remove any current sql files including registry files before I can install a new version.

I cant just delete these as they return due to copies in the registry. How can I do this please. Running XP Pro SP3.
