They say that the medical masks will prevent contracting the illness via air, but you can still contract it if you get the virus on your hands and then rub your eyes, your mouth, or touch something that goes in your mouth. They're saying that the best method to avoid the illness is making sure you wash your hands. They're also saying to restrict non-essential travel to Mexico, that includes vacations.

People need to be VERY cautious if they're traveling to Mexico. My best advice for them? DON'T GO.

Medical Masks are helpful but you may want to note that if they get damp then they are useless. A medical mask could become damp in as less as 2 hours, so make sure you have spares! The people there will all be wearing medical masks - so it is quite intriguing!

Make sure your hands are continuously clean. An alcohol rub/hand sanitizer will help and make sure you use it several times a day. Currently, Mexico is the worst hit place - so if you have plans to go to the country, avoid it or be very cautious.

Try and get a refund. The CDC advises not touching the mouth, nose or eyes, as these are primary modes of transmission. When coughing, they recommend coughing into a tissue and disposing of the tissue, then immediately washing your hands.

There is no risk of flu transmission from consumption of pork however it is best you don't eat it just in case.
