How do I become a Buddhist?

As I've always said in my answers, go to experience every school, and from there find your heart's desires; don't stick to one sect that came in contact with you first, you have to have an open mind; because your destined teachers may be waiting for you to show up, as you know human world is full of impermanence, and your teachers may not be able to wait for you forever, then you need to come back again to start over. Buddhism is such wide and detail subject of learning; and it is a school to create saints and perfection to be exact. So many people misconstrued its purpose, because they were only reading a book or two on the fundamental teachings of Buddhism, so many thought it just that simple, Four Noble Truth, Eight Folds Paths, some meditations and Nada,.... But what about :Three Dharma Seals; Eight Sufferings, 16 Sufferings and 32 Sufferings etc.; Six Awareness, Six Perfections, 16 Fields of Knowing; 12 Dependent Arising; Six Realms of Samsara; Four Realms of Sainthood, etc.... There are the Moral conducts of Five Percepts, Ten Moral conducts, Bodhisattva Vows, Vajrayana Percepts and Samaya, Etc... What is the Vehicle of Human (Puru?

Ay? Na); what is the Vehicle of Heavens (Devay? Na); what is the Vehicle of Voice Hearers (?r?

Vakay? Na); what is the Pratyeka-Buddya Yana (Pratyekay? Na); what is Vehicle of Bodhisattvas (Bodhisattvay?

Na), and Vajryana Vehicles of Kriya Yoga, Criya Yoga, Tantra Yoga, Mahayoga, Anutarayoga or (Anuyoga and Atiyoga). How and what causes their achieving a particular levels. The Buddhism schools of Hinayana (Theravada); Mahayana Schools (Pureland, Wayen, Ch'an (Zen), Lian Wa, Yogacara, etc...); and Vajrayana Schools of Lower Tantra, (Tang Tantra, Chung Tantra, Tien-Tai Tantra, Shingon Tantra), and High Tantra of Tibetan Tantra (Breaks down to 4 major lineages and 5 or 6 minor lineages.) etc... With meditations- we have the Theravada meditation techniques consists of about 37 different techniques; Mahayana consists of 5 or 6 major techniques; Vajrayana Techniques inclusive of Matters and Mind techniques of Views, Forms Yoga, Guru Yoga and Deities Yogas; and full realization techniques such as Heruka Yogas, MahaMudra (4 major Groups) and Dzochen (100 techniques).

In higher schools we follow different systematical training systems to elevate our mind, then start by purifying all the seeds of Samsara, and purified all of our negative Karma and other negative delusions, fully eliminate all possible incarnations because of Karma, we became Buddha- the fully Enlightened being- for knowing the Buddha Nature and complete the perfection of two roots- Merits and Fortune. I can elaborate more if you want to know more. One guy was in a Japanese Pseudo-Buddhismism tried to convert me, (yes, there are lots of fake Buddhism sects/schools; just like there are so many fake Buddhists here in this world), so I refute everything he threw at me; after two years-- because I have no interest or never try to convert him, but he decided to learn from me after several mystical experiences; and he has been with me for over 14 years now; another guy also learn from me for over 12 years.

Join the Pure Land tradition which is the largest Buddhist tradition all over the world. Then say prayers to Amida and Kannon the Supreme Buddhist Gods and venerate Them with offerings. It will make your practice much more substantial than the nonsense of American Buddhism.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
