When it comes to entertaining you really don’t have to follow any rules, as your get-together should be indicative of your style and point of view. However, there are a few guidelines that I feel if you are in doubt, these will make it easier to plan your dinner. If you have a certain theme, it is wise to continue that theme throughout the meal.
Meaning, the appetizers, entrée and dessert should compliment one another. For example, if you are making lasagna for dinner with garlic bread, although bruschetta would be a great appetizer, if you’re already serving garlic bread with dinner, you don’t want to serve bread as the appetizer, so you can go with something like stuffed mushrooms or fried ravioli. For dessert, if you want to stay with the Italian theme, you can either serve some Spumoni ice cream or a Tiramisu.
But, like I said, this is only a guideline, so you can make your own rules. Perhaps you want to stick to Italian theme for appetizers and the dinner because these are savory, and for dessert you want to do a fruit tart or pastries. This is totally acceptable because it doesn’t stray too far from your dinner.By the same token, to serve the Italian dinner and then serve pumpkin pie for dessert probably wouldn’t be as acceptable because it does not compliment the meal and is far too heavy for a heavy dinner.
Again, you want to make sure that what you serve is a reflection on your personality, so the key is to have fun and experiment with new ways to serve old dishes.
I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
