Every time I braid my own hair, it ends up a little crooked in the back because my arms get tired! Start with about a 3 inch section from the hairline back to the crown, and begin braiding, pulling strands from the side in to the braids as you go. In order to French braid, you need to start at one end of the head. It does not matter which end but you will then divide the first layer of hair into three pieces. Overlap one of the sides through the middle and under the other side.
Continue this process with all three strands. As you move further down the head, you add more hair from the next layer.
1. Take a section from the top of the head, separate it into three different strands crossing the right over the middle, and the left over the middle.2. Switch all strands to your left hand; be sure to keep them separated.3.
Gather a little, but even section from the right side with your right hand and place with the right strand.4. Bring that strand to the middle and the middle strand to the right side.5. Switch hands so your left hands free; still keeping the strands separated.6.
Place a section of hair from the left side to the left strand.7. Bring the left strand over the middle and the middle strand to the left.8. Continue this process until there is no hair left un-braided.
