I was miffed. Three calls from this woman in a row! It was a wrong number.

It certainly is rude... I've had calls like these too. It's as if they are annoyed when you answer and want to know why you're NOT the person they want! Calls like these are not only rude, but ignorant IMO.

Some people have issues. If I am calling someone I will wait for them to say hello. Then I will ask if I can speak to the person I want to speak to.
If it is a wrong number too bad for me. I think if your calling someone you should not be the one asking who the person your speaking to is. That is rude and very uneducated..
I always announce my name when I call or when I am called It is not rude to ask who is on the line. It is rude to not introduce yourself. I have a hard time identifying voices on the phone.
Most people are not trying to be rude when they assume you know who they are, they are just not thinking. Then there are the less intelligent people who don't figure out that they are dialing the wrong number, and should confirm they have the right number by identifying themselves. I use it as a test for telemarketers. I answer with my name, and there is a delay at the other end, and then they ask to speak with .. .Me. They didn't hear me say my name so they are a telemarketer and I hang up.
