How do you get rid of the foul smell of luggage?

I bought a new luggage set online and there is a distinct strong, foul odor. My husband says it's chemical and needs to be aired out. I've aired it out for days and sprayed it with Febreze but it still smells!

(Ugh! )I'm thinking of tossing the whole set. Help!

Baking Soda will absorb the odor. Fill a small clean sock with 1/4 cup of baking soda for each piece of luggage. If you don't have any mis-matched infant or toddler socks (or know a Mom that has some) use a 8 inch square of muslin or plain cottom.

Put the baking soda in the center and gather the edges up and tie with a string or ribbon. Put the baking soda saches in each piece of luggage and close. Depending on what chemicals were used in the tanning of the leather or the construction of the luggage it could take a couple of days or several applications (replace the saches with fresh baking soda after 3 days) to absorb all the odor..

Do not..."toss" it. Donate it to the less fortunate and by from a local retailer where you can find out, first hand, how it works, smells, feels and so on, just like we used to do things. It would seem that your husband's idea is logical but you may need to pay the price for quality goods.

Try washing it on the outside with a soap you like the smell of it might be a lot of industrial lubricant and oils, or it might be the fabric. I find the Bath and Body works kitchen lemon antibacterial handsome will kill the smell of just about anything, including fish. And smells nice after too.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest.
