How does spending a Mahalo Nickel to vote on questions help Mahalo Answers?

I am not sure yet, maybe a more Utopian and altruistic community. Each time Mahalo has made a change it has eventually worked out for the best in my opinion I will go into this with that faith. However I can foresee a lot of "No Best Answer Selected" questions for a complete lack of any votes at all on any of the given answers.

If that turns out to be the case many questions will go unanswered as who would answer if there was very little chance of getting the best answer. I would hope that the Mahalo gods give some additional incentives to vote such as http://www.mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-community/how-exactly-will-undecided-questions-be-decided-in-this-new-system-votes-like-before-helpful-votes-withing-the-answer-something-new#a62076645047a6cba42323d52c1dd98168eceee359db294c6b689e4c0563b9553 the ones mentioned here by Jason Calacanis and these new motivations allow for the growth of a more giving community. Mahalo has always said they want to grow a community based on members who were not here for the money and this more giving system would be just the kind of thing they would want to foster.

If this experiment works. There are so many questions now I can vote 200 times in a day and there is still more to vote on. That level of voting will be expensive only to help out other people.

Who will want to spend that kind of money? With this volume of questions needing to be voted on the economics are staggering. But helping out other people is what Mahalo is all about.

I suppose one would have to have faith that by voting of the answers of others we will start a cycle of monies being passed around within the community.. voting money. Money we do not count as our money but as money we need to spend in order to keep the wheels of Mahalo moving smoothly.

The answers are going to be selected by the helpful votes. It may be like the members will be paying some tips along with the helpful answers. I am not sure of how the terms are going to be.

Mahalo will bring some more incentives to askers and answerers. All the new features worked well till this date. So, I am guessing this feature to pay a nickel also will work.

I think, many people in the site other than the staff are just being here for the fun of Mahalo. So it won't really affect the people here. Also, the Mahalo wants to see the Mahalo money they spend for the answers circulating in the site, instead of going out.

The "How to"s were paid M$10 previously. But it reduced. It did not change the quality of pages though. So I am thinking, the spending a nickel to vote also will not change much in Mahalo.

More people will come to use and Mahalo will continue to grow.

Spending a Mahalo Nickel to vote on questions may help Mahalo Answers in several ways. First, the practice will encourage people to answer questions that have already been answered as more then just the best answer will be able to earn money. The practice will also keep more money floating around Mahalo (code phrase http://www.mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-community/how-exactly-will-undecided-questions-be-decided-in-this-new-system-votes-like-before-helpful-votes-withing-the-answer-something-new#a62076645047a6cba42323d52c1dd98168eceee359db294c6b689e4c0563b9553 splashy cashy).

Also, since we will have to pay to vote, it will tend to promote only the best answers. At this point I need to digress from answering your direct question. How will it help?

I see some major problems with the idea of paying to vote. First, it may turn people off from voting entirely. There was a previous discussion a while back (you can read it http://www.mahalo.com/answers/mahalo-answers-community/a-question-suggestion-for-mahalo-staffers-is-it-possible-to-give-a-tiny-amount-for-votes-everyone-would-you-vote-more-often-for-a-tip here).

In that thread the view was posted that we should get paid for voting. This would encourage participating in the process. People were seeking an incentive to vote.

Paying to vote seems like a disincentive to say the least. Another problem I see is the mass selection of, “No Best Answer. I can just see people coming to Mahalo and reading a lot of old questions and always finding, “No Best Answer!

I don't see how that will help the site. I would suggest that Mahalo either pay people to vote or they add the $M0.05 to the answer that gets the helpful vote. If that is not what happens, then reduce the penalty for voting to $M0.01 and increase the points awarded for voting. At least, add some kind of incentive to offset the added cost to the user!

It rewards helpful answers, even if they're not selected as best!

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
