I can't agree with you as I think that opening of the innings should be done by a left hand and a right hand batsman. This is the most successful way to make a great start of the innings. All the three batsmen you have suggested are right handed batsmen, therefore, I would suggest Gambhir and Vijay as the opening batsmen.
