How to convince my parents to let me build my own gaming PC?

I know exactly what you need. It's brilliant, will provide most of your requirements, and should last you for years. Ready?

Wait for it............. ........it's called a job. Stop expecting your parents to pay for everything. Welcome to the real world.

EDIT - I want! I want! I want!

I had a paid job when I was 7 during my school holidays, and I've continued employment ever since. Your attitude to 'why would I get a job for my own christmas present' is, quite frankly, offensive. If you expect everything to be handed to you on a plate then I'm afraid that you are destined to be unemployable and a regular feature of the Jeremy Kyle show.

Since your wanting to go into IT when you get to college, maybe building a computer piece by piece would be a good opportunity for early learning and tell your parents that this is a learning experience for you (study what you need to do to build a computer and learn how to make sure parts will be compatible) . And if they say no, than ask them if they could help you save money so you can build it (if your impulsive with money) and then in a 6 month period you can build your own sweet gaming desktop by the time summer comes. Building a computer is cheaper than buying a full computer for what you get to put into the PC (you will be able to put what you want in the computer and get the performance you want).

With an Operating System buy Windows 7 OEM (it's cheaper and works well) Another thing is, is to tell them you'll do extra chores around the house (see if that helps with them helping you get it) LOL your Laptop specs are just like mine. Do you have a Sony Vaio laptop? While I have to agree that this laptop works well with decently newer games (I can play bioshock and Call of Duty on it), I understand the feeling of wanting more of a powerhouse that you can get from a gaming PC.

And also this laptop doesn't have enough power to enjoy on a bigger HDTV screen (I've tried and get artifacts) you can't even watch a movie on the HDTV through HDMI due to that crap >.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
