Well, for one, he's a Republican and was Secretary of State before he clashed with Rumsfeld & Co. Second, and most important, he's a retired military officer (high ranking) and that will be influential with our troops. He is respected as a man who is intelligent and level headed, who clashed with this administration over the number of troops needed to invade Iraq.
Rumsfeld won that argument, and we didn't have enough boots on the ground to hold the peace. His endorsement will count a lot, especially since he has integrity, and he will not endorse Obama because he's black but because he feels he is the best candidate.
I think it will affect McCains Campaign not Obama, remember Colin Powell is a Republican .
