I am using Time Machine within Mac OS X for my backup strategy. What size external hard drive do I need? I have an iMac with a 1TB hard drive.

I have an external drive that is also 1TB and Time Machine uses that external drive as its target for backups. My 1TB drive is not nearly filled up, but over time, is it ok that the external drive is the same size as my main drive? This Is Ok, Just Realize that over time youll have your older revisions deleted. Time Machine is a differential back up, it keeps a baseline copy, and then the differential, so eventually the changes become part of the baseline copy. As long as your hard drive is under 60 percent full, (the system one) this shoudlnt be an issue .

Need larger than original hard drive. This article is a great explanation of how Time Machine works. Basically it is creating multiple archives of your data over time, not a simple 1 to 1 backup. So, if your 1TB hard drive is full, you will likely receive errors from Time Machine because it doesn't have enough space to make multiple hourly/daily/weekly archives of your data.

If you start to fill up your main hard drive you may want to look at a mirroring backup solution such as SuperDuper! Or get a larger backup drive..

Congrats on using a Mac! See below... I think you'll be fine for now - At some point, though, your external drive will get full. When that happens, Time Machine will alert you that it will start deleting previous backups, oldest first.

Before it deletes any backup, Time Machine copies files that might be needed to fully restore your disk for every remaining backup. Moral of the story: the larger the drive, the farther back in time you can back up. Hope this helps!

I use Mac Leopard also and love it, love it, love it! : ) Sources: opinion .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
