I don't believe in the disease model of alcoholism, why is it not classified as a disorder?

No, not really. It's not something that is easy to get out of, though... Then again, I guess when you're body is literally so dependent on it you could die if you stop drinking it, that's a physiological condition. I think everyone is born with tendencies, but that doesn't mean they become everything they could have based on their tendencies... You are not born with alcoholism the same way one is born with type 1 diabetes or cerebral palsy.

You also do not get alcoholism later in life the same way you might get cancer, kidney failure or GERD. I guess I have never seen legitimate evidence that something physiological actually triggers alcoholism... So I guess alcoholism doesn't fit my definition of "disease." Perhaps there is an underlying condition that tends to lead to substance abuse.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
