I have a audio receiver with Coaxial Audio and a TV with Optical audio out! can you guess my question?

I have a audio receiver with Coaxial Audio and a TV with Optical audio out! Can you guess my question?! My receiver had digital audio in through a coaxial cable (orange one).

My TV has an optical out. I know there are converters I can buy but will it result in loss of sound quality? If I use one will I still have full 5.1 surround sound?

Any suggestions? Asked by miles4 24 months ago Similar questions: audio receiver Coaxial Audio TV Optical guess question Consumer Electronics > Home Audio & Theater.

What sound card actually will output 5.1 via optical/coaxial The only way your 5.1 can receive 5.1 audio over coax or optical would be if it were encoded in DTS or Dolby Digital. DVDs have their audio tracks encoded this way but there aren't any sound cards out there that have any real-time encoding built in, as far as I know. You can output sound in 5.1 from your card using analogue outputs and hooking them up to a 5.1 system meant to accept them, such as 5.1 systems built for PCs.

Your 5.1 digital amp is only receiving a stereo feed as your PC can only put out PCM audio (like a . WAV file or CD audio content) in real time, it's simply too much to ask it to play your game and encode 5.1 channels. You can still watch your DVDs in true 5.1 using your setup by going into the audio options of whatever software DVD player you use and selecting S/PDIF output.

If you want to play games in 5.1 then I suggest you purchase some 5.1 PC speakers, such as Creative or Logitech produce. While the latest version of HDMI is up to 1.3c, but there are four main versions that most equipment will correspond to — 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 1.3. Notice that the versions signify changes to the types of audio they can transmit, as all versions should be able to transmit HD video up to 1080p.1.0 This is the first version of HDMI and it was ratified in late 2002.It will decode most versions of audio contained in DVD and digital TV signals, including Dolby Digital and DTS.1.1 This version added DVD-Audio support, which means users with compatible disks and players can listen to 5.1 channel audio streams without the need for six separate audio RCA cables.1.2/1.2a The main improvement on 1.1 is the addition of Super Audio CD (SACD) support, which means users no longer need to rely on iLink or analog cables to listen to SACDs. The standard also adds support for an as-yet unused Type A PC connector.1.3/1.3a/1.3b Version 1.3 adds support for Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio which are used in Blu-ray players. Increasingly, AV receivers are including decoding for these standards on board, while devices the PlayStation 3 will output a decoded signals.

The 1.3 standard also increases the available bandwidth by a factor of two to 10Gbps. Though 1.3b and 1.3c exist they don't add any further functionality over 1.3a, and so are interchangeable. Sources: http://www.cnet.com.au/why-hdmi-what-you-need-to-know-before-going-digital-240004563.htm .

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
