I have a chevrolet cavalier 1998. when the engine is hot water is overflowing from the radiator cap?

To much water in the coolant mixture, and bad radiator cap.

Take it to a mechanic before it stops running altogether.

Could be your electric fan quit working , blocked radiator , thermostat or worst case scenario the head gasket.

Its surely is the radiator cap. Change it. Buy a new one, and then see.
