Sounds like you might not have the email address correct. Have you received email from this friend? If so, have you tried responding directly to that email, rather than starting a new one?

Sometimes it's a small typo that causes a problem, like if the person has a space in their email address, and a _ is inserted in. Are you sending photos or other attachments in your email? Sometimes if they are too large you might get a message like this.

Cell networks down there are fairly closed - local operators see international services of any kind like additional services. Most probably his/hers phone account is not enabled for international SMS traffic. Try to use the operator's webpage to SMS your friend.

If the first three digits of the cell number are 310,311,312 or 314 try comcel.com.co. For 315, 316 or 317 try movistar.com.co. For 300 or 301 try www.tigo.com.co.

Typical of the email ISP providers in South America that do not give email boxes large enough specially if you are senting attachments. I get the same from Brazil but eventually they do receive the emails. When sending photos etc make sure you send them in smaller sizes.

Anything over 4MB is a problem. Not everyone has the plan that they text or they can receive/send photos on their cell phone. Make sure he can receive what you are trying to send him.
