You will need to shop around to see what is available in downdraft style ranges. There appear to be other brands, which come up in a quick search, but if price is an issue with Jenn Aire, you might not like the alternatives any more.

Price was not the problem -- reliability was. I've been very unhappy with both of the Jennaire's I've purchased. I've looked around and have not found a good alternative -- hence my post.

Most of the options are cook tops with downdraft. I have a gas stove -- with an oven below -- and have not found a replacement yet. I've looked at the ones that have a pop-up -- but I have granite counters and would like to find a 30" downdraft which is NOT Jennaire.

Most of the gas-with-downdraft assemblies I have seen place a popup behind a range - whether cooktop or slide-in. Of course, this takes up more space. I did a quick search on "downdraft range" and came up with several brands I am not familiar with in the $3,000+ price range.

If your kitchen is on an exterior wall, or you have attic space, you can also consider retrofitting to a traditional ventilation system.

I would be interested to know if you found an option. Also, is your 30" a wall model or a "slide-in" "drop-in" oven? .

Mine is a 30" slide-in. I have not found a solution -- may just sell the house! Seriously we are going to address this issue this upcoming summer -- so I"ll let you know if what we end up doing.

I cant really gove you an answer,but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
