I have a Western Digital NAS that runs some form of Linux. Is it possible to install an Ampache music server? If so, how?

Usually (my understanding) is that people use this: nslu2-linux.org/ ...and put a custom version of logistic's (aka slimdevices. Com) squeezecenter on it. However, I haven't found this solution for your Western digital NAS.

That doesn't mean someone has not done it. But it looks like you are looking for something that "just works". I know this doesn't have much to do w/ Ampache.

But given the above solution is difficult (i.e. The squeezecenter server requires mysql running as a data base - no small task getting that to work on a small NAS platform), I imagine trying to get Ampache working will be challenging as well. I don't know if this is you, but you might track these threads: forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php... ampache.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2038 What would I do?

: If only interested in music I would buy one of the small low power PC's. Maybe even a used one. Run it headless and w/Linux and load in squeezecenter, PERL, mysql and what ever else it needs.

This should be "turn key" for any of the popular Linux distributions. I'd be surprise if you needed to spend more then $200 on this box. -good luck.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
