I have heard that satin pillowcases are very good for the hair and skin. Before I run out to buy some, does anyone have an opinion on this?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I need to be honest. I had a polyester pillowcase once. Please don't go that route. It was very uncomfortable.

I have never used a satin pillowcase, but I have used a satin sheet. I prefer cotton. It was hard to get a good night's sleep on the satin because of the material texture. I had a hard time staying in a comfortable sleeping position because the sheet kept moving underneath me.

My concern with a satin pillowcase is that your head may slide off the pillow. A possible solution for you may be to try it out and return it if you have the same experience I did with the sheet or otherwise don't like it.

A funny story. Years ago when my wife and I were young and romantic (now we're old and romantic), we bought some black satin sheets to spice up the "decor" in our bedroom. I'll never forget the first time I came rushing into the room and jumped into bed.

I hit one side of the bed, slid all the way across the bed and off the other side. We laughed so hard and so long there was no chance for spicy romance that night. In fact, every time we put them on after that, we were reminded of "the great slide", and I usually ended up re-enacting the scene. It was great fun, but highly over-rated for romantic purposes, at least in our case.

I'm afraid the slippery quality may give you similar (though less hilarious) experiences. Couldn't help thinking of this oldie: youtube.com/watch?v=Xq3KAd8UcFk&feature=....

I had been hearing about the benefits of sleeping on satin pillowcases for a long time. A few months ago I heard Kelly Ripa going on and on about how her hairdresser switched her to a satin pillowcase. Kelly couldn’t stop talking about how great it was.

I decided to try one for myself. I did a search for the benefits of sleeping on satin and found several articles. A company called A Touch of Satin had a page with a list of the benefits that seemed to answer your question. It was very informative.

They had a large selection of solid colors and designs. I ordered a set from their black and white satin pillowcase page and I just love them. Kelly Ripa was right.

I really have noticed a significant difference in my hair and skin. If you’re interested, here’s their website if you want to see what they have. atouchofsatin.com I hope this helps answer your question!

I am afraid you are just going to have to buy yourself a really high quality soft cotton pillow case. They say the silk, or satin, pillow cases don't provide a lot of support, so don't have any major affect for wrinkles, or hair breakage. How ever, any good supplement for hair and skin is sleep, and plenty of it so if your more comfortable on a satin pillow case and find yourself resting more comfortable that way, then yes it would be a good buy...but if your only running out to buy one because you heard they were good for the skin and hair, then no its not necessary.

I find them uncomfortable and also make my hair hold static. Flannel is a good choice as is a good high count cotton.

The satin is great for your skin because it does not 'crease' your skin the way other fabrics can. When the (regular) sheets crease your skin, (and your skin remain creased all night) it can sometimes be the beginning of a deep wrinkle that may become permanent.

I cant really gove you an answer, but what I can give you is a way to a solution, that is you have to find the anglde that you relate to or peaks your interest. A good paper is one that people get drawn into because it reaches them ln some way.As for me WW11 to me, I think of the holocaust and the effect it had on the survivors, their families and those who stood by and did nothing until it was too late.
